| Investment in real estate and property market of Orissa is expected to increase as the economy grows. The total land area of the state is about 155,707 square kilometers. Bhubaneshwar is the largest and the capital city of Orissa. Few of
the recent property market development include -
- Construction of steel plant near Gopalpur by the TATA group. Another project planned by the same group is to develop a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for Electro-Metallurgical business.
- Construction of a model satellite city between Sambalpur and Jharsuguda to meet the needs driven by rapid industrialization of the area.
- Development of Indraprastha Mega Housing Project by Apollo Consultancy & Constructions Ltd.
- Development of International Convention Centre in Bhubaneshwar, Orissa by BSEL Infrastructure Realty Limited, Accor Group of Hotels and with Adlabs Films Limited.
- Setting up of the state’s first SEZ dedicated to Information Technology by the Government in partnership with India’s leading real estate developer DLF.
Government is trying to improve the infrastructure of the state to attract investors. The Orissa State Housing Board is an agency engaged in providing affordable accommodation both in urban and rural areas and to ease the shortage of housing in the state.
